CSoft Launches EDA 3
8 June, 2007. Lillestrøm, Norway. EDA 3 is CSoft's next generation archiving front-end application. EDA 3 spreads its functionality to multipage documents as well as multi-user support.
CSoft AS, the world's leading raster-vector graphics software developer, today announced the release of EDA 3.
EDA 3 is CSoft's next generation archiving front-end application. It inherits all the good features from EDA 2, such as dual data format support, links between image and text, easy customizable forms, and open architecture. EDA 3 spreads its functionality to multipage documents as well as multi-user support. EDA 3 can be connected to more types of databases, such as MS Access, MSDE, MS SQL and Oracle. EDA utilizes a "hybrid drawing database" approach, effectively working with raster images, vector drawings and text data. It can contain image-referenced fields with text comments.
What's new in EDA 3
This version of EDA includes critical improvements, which raise class of this application from personal to corporative level:
- Long awaited capability as multi-user access is included now. The Lock / Unlock, Drop Lock, Kill Lock commands and Automatic Lock mechanism make common work simple, safe and convenient.
- Starting from this version EDA supports 3 archive database formats:
- Creation or connecting to Microsoft Jet Engine (MS Access) database;
- Connection to SQL Server database;
- Connection to Oracle database.
- Redesigned archive database table with Group Bar and multi-selection possibility.
- A lot of objects and tools for drawings markup has been implemented:
- 9 markup objects
- Inspector window, which shows objects settings and allows you to modify them
- Snap to vector and raster objects mechanism
- Grid in the Viewer panel
- The measure tool which is available in additional plug-in.
- Improved import from XML file: the new import dialog allows you to establish a correspondence between fields in imported XML file and fields in current archive.
- The Preferences dialog with application options.

- New form control — Quality checker;
- Improved Region control with user comments to selected region;
- Create and view notes using the Comments panel;
- New field type — Memo.
