December 4, New Plymouth - PlanTracer, a new product in Consistent Software product family, receives The Editor's Choice Award from CADENCE Magazine.
The past six months--never mind the sluggish economy--has seen a number of stalwart CAD developers hard at work on industry-advancing technologies. Here are our picks for those deserving of breakthrough leadership bragging rights.
Twice a year, the editors at CADENCE consult with a host of reviewers, contributing editors, and CADENCE columnists to create a list of CAD software and related hardware vendors who've either released or previewed significant products during the past six months. Then the CADENCE editors seclude themselves in a conference room with whiteboard at the ready and whittle down the listing to those they feel have done the most to help move the CAD industry forward. Among the criteria we use are the innovativeness of the technology, the quality of the product and its impact on the day-to-day lives of CAD pros and practitioners, and the development-direction signaled by the product's feature palette.
We take special pride in presenting this second edition of the Editors' Choice Awards for 2002. Coming as it does at the end of yet another difficult year economically for the entire CAD industry, there is still much to applaud among the winners here. These are companies that have shown by example the importance of spending valuable research-and-development dollars to prepare for the future-despite the gloomy short-term outlook of the present.
CADENCE editors are pleased to extend our highest commendation to the development and marketing teams behind these praise-worthy products.
This is what Cadence say about the Editors Choice Award:
«Ever need to turn your source floor plans into objects such as walls, columns, windows, and doors? This new plug-in for Autodesk's Architectural Desktop and AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT lets users convert 2D CAD drawings, scanned raster images, and even sketches into 3D models that are usable in AEC and Facilities Management (FM) applications. This first-to-market product uses algorithms that enable recognition of arbitrary objects by searching and recognizing patterns in 2D plans. Other benefits of PlanTracer include automatic and semi-automatic conversion modes, improved turnaround time for floor-data extraction, open architecture for system integrators and third-party developers, option to use your own symbol libraries for equipment and furniture recognition, and reusable template libraries.»
